Anglican Church of Papua New Guinea
Intro
The Anglican Church of Papua New Guinea is the Anglican Communion province for Papua New Guinea and became an independent province in 1977, shortly after the country's political independence. It grew out of the Australian church's missionary work and still reflects that history while operating today as a national province with its own bishops and dioceses.
Structure
The church follows the standard Anglican episcopal pattern. Wikipedia says the primate may be any one of the diocesan bishops, and the province currently consists of five dioceses rather than a separate metropolitan archdiocese.
Those dioceses reflect the church's historic centers in Port Moresby, Oro, Milne Bay, the Highlands, and the islands. Their cathedral cities and territories show how the province balances national leadership with strongly regional diocesan identities.
